Test Format
APA PsycTests records use a single test record format that includes basic information about the test, indexing information, and source citations of APA PsycInfo records where the test is used. Check out a sample APA PsycTest record here.
Methodology Filter
Users can filter searches by the Test Methodology field, which indicates specific psychometric analyses or specific methodologies used in the test development process or usage of the test.
Test Type
This field indicates how the record relates to other records in the database. Each test record is categorized into four types: an original test, a revision of an existing test, a translation of a test, or a subtest.
Source Citation
The source citation tab offers a list of citations when there are corresponding APA PsycInfo records. Citations are labeled Development, Review, or Use, to indicate how the citation relates to the test described in the source.
In cases when multiple Source Citations exist, there is a Source Used field that indicates which citation was used to create the bulk of the indexed information.
Permissions
If you are looking to use a test for your own research or teaching purposes, you can filter search results by permission values. To use a test for commercial gain or other non-research and learning purposes, you are required to contact the copyright owner for permission.
Testing Constructs
All APA PsycTests records include the construct being measured within a test, such as gender, anxiety, or cognitive development. To search by construct select “Test Construct” field from the drop-down menu and enter a relevant search term:
Language
APA PsycTests provides full text tests in more than 40 different languages. Within the test record, the Language Present field indicates the language of the test present in the source document. Language Available indicates the different language(s) in which the test is officially available.
Capturing Test Reliability and Validity
All test records include fields for reliability, validity, and factor analysis.
- Reliability indicates the psychometric methodology used to measure the test’s ability to provide consistent results repeatedly.
- Validity is the degree to which the test reflects what it is supposed to measure.
- Factor analysis is a statistical method used to describe variability among observed, correlated variables into a potentially lower number of unobserved variables.
